This 2.5D history animation was created using a camera mapping technique to create the 3D depth of the field’s surface while the soldiers were cutouts precisely placed in Z space. I animated them using the puppet tool inside of Adobe After Effects. The explosion was recreated and enhanced using advanced 3D compositing techniques. The final step was animating the camera motion in the scene along with explosion concussion motion to further immerse the audience into the 2.5D World War 2 animation.
